    Description

    Original Claude Crowe Window Card
This is an original window card used to promote The Dallas Theater Center 1961-62 season. The photograph used is of magician Claude Crowe (1937-2015) eating fire from his performance of Shakespeare’s Taming Of The Shrew during the 1960-61 season.
It states: The Dallas Theater Center / Big New Season / The Madwoman Of Chaillot (Shaw), St. Joan Life With Father (O’Neill), Desire Under The Elms Moliere Shake Speare An Original Script & Much More / See It In The Frank Lloyd Wright Designed Theater Of Ideas / November 1961-July 1962.
A “window card” is a poster that is used to promote a show or an event. It is made of stiff cardboard and is often placed at retail store windows. It is also used at theaters and at events in glass cases outside of the venue.
This original 14 x 22 inch, window card was purchased at auction from the David Price Egyptian Hall Museum (EHM 3354). It is dated 1961. Pre-owned but in good condition for its age.
