Up for auction is a
1940s HAMILTON Model 21 Marine chronometer "Brass and Glass Case" for Parts or Restoration
.
The item in this auction is previously used and is approximately 75 years old. Please note that the brass case has accumulated oxidation, light scratches, and wear. The glass has some light scratches (see photos of glass)
The
glass
is in fair to good condition, as it has some very fine trace scratches, and a small number of short scratches. Please see the photo of the dial against the black background, which was the best way to make the scratches visible. The scratches are much harder to notice in regular lighting.
The
brass tub
is in Fair condition, with wide-spread areas exhibiting dirt and oxidation. There are also light scratches or other cosmetic imperfections. There are no deep dents nor any deep scratches on the brass tub. The tub could be cleaned or polished should the new owner choose to do so.
The
spring loaded dust seal disc
works properly, and is not "stuck".
This item came from the estate of a former collector.
