As a master distributor for Excel Dryer, we daily ship the Xlerator hand dryer to construction contractors and Division 10 supply companies all over the country. And on occasion, our customers need to exchange the Xlerators originally ordered for a different color or voltage. Because of the long-term relationships we have with these companies, we have at times accepted these units back (even after having been opened and occasionally mishandled on the job site by subcontractors). In such cases, we can no longer sale the units as “new”.
It truly is an "our loss is your gain" situation. This specific XL-W Xlerator is "new" in performance in every way. This is not a refurbished unit; absolutely no repair was needed.
All internal components (motor, infrared sensor, circuit board, heating element, thermostat, etc.) are brand new (and newest 2016 version) and never used.
It's only the cover that has received one small blemish. Please refer to the multiple pictures contained in this listing for specific location and appearance of blemishes

There is only one area where the white epoxy has been dinged. The first six pictures are just an overall pictures: front, top, bottom, sides & back.  Pictures 7 is showing the location of the ding: upper left/top corner. Picture 8 is close-up of the same scratch.  The 11th and last picture is a stock photo of the XL-W.  After the most recent price increase from Excel, the minimum advertised price for the XL-W (when an unopened box) goes for 0.

In general, the Xlerator is the world’s first high-speed hand dryer capable of drying the user’s hands in only 10 to 15 seconds. Since 2002, the hand dryer industry has been trying to catch up.  And in early 2016, the Xlerator was internally redesigned & made even better.  The motor is now variable speed motor; meaning it can be set to any speed between fastest to slowest.  Sound decreases as speed is reduced & dry time increased.  The heating element is now adjustable with four settings: high, medium, low & off.
With these two variables, the owner can customize the air flow, dry time, sound volume, and energy consumption to fit any application environment.
Both controls are accessible only when the cover is removed.
In addition, this newest generation of XLerators includes a washable metal mesh filter for more reliable performance.
A smart filter sensor is activated should the filter become clogged & is indicated by a visible red LED light.

Specific to the Model XL-W, a die-cast zinc alloy is used to form the one-piece, heavy-duty, vandal-resistant cover.  This light weight cover is both rustproof and unbreakable.
All exposed areas of the cover are coated with chip-proof, electrostatically-applied epoxy enamel that is glossy white in color

Two tamper-resistant, chrome plated bolts secure the cover to the wall plate/motor base.  The Xlerator uses a powerful “series commutated through-flow discharge vacuum motor/blower” design.
Set to the highest speed (
20,000 RPM), this powerful yet extremely efficient 5/8HP motor can produce an air velocity of 19,000 lfm (linear feet per minute) at the nozzle or 16,000 lfm at hand level (approx. 4” below the nozzle).  At this highest speed, a sound level of
80 to 81 dB
is generated by the deflection of the high-speed air flow off the user’s hands
(but the variable speed motor can be dialed down to the where the sound best suits the owner's preference & installation environment)

The Xlerator heats the out-flowing air to approx.135°F (from an ambient temperature of 72°F) through a combination of the 970W heating element, friction, and the compression of the air flow.  Mounting instructions and warranty information are included.  Since its introduction, the Xlerator has been often imitated but has yet to be duplicated and remains the standard for high-speed hand dryers.
