As a master distributor for Excel Dryer, we daily ship the Xlerator hand dryer to construction contractors and Division 10 supply companies all over the country. And on occasion, our customers need to exchange the Xlerators originally ordered for a different color or voltage. Because of the long-term relationships we have with these companies, we have at times accepted these units back (even after having been opened and occasionally mishandled on the job site by subcontractors). In such cases, we can no longer sale the units as “new”.
It truly is an "our loss is your gain" situation. This specific XL-C Xlerator is "new" in performance in every way. This is not a refurbished unit; absolutely no repair was needed.
All internal components (motor, infrared sensor, circuit board, heating element, thermostat, etc.) are brand new (and newest 2016 version) and never used.
It's only the cover that has received very minor scratches & dings.

The tiny blemishes on this particular unit is extremely superficial and difficult to capture in photos.
The first eight pictures are just an overall pictures: front, top, bottom, & sides.  Picture 9 as an attempt the the capture the one small, lightly scratched spot; but so superficial, it does not appear in the picture.  The 12th and last picture is a stock photo of the XL-C.  After the most recent price increase from Excel, the minimum advertised price for the XL-C (when an unopened box) goes for 0.

In general,  the Xlerator is the world’s first high-speed hand dryer capable of drying the user’s hands in only 10 to 15 seconds. Since 2002, the hand dryer industry has been trying to catch up.
And in early 2016, the Xlerator was internally redesigned & made even better.  The motor is now variable speed motor; meaning it can be set to any speed between fastest to slowest.  Sound decreases as speed is reduced & dry time increased.  The heating element is now adjustable with four settings: high, medium, low & off.  Electrical usage and Amps required are now in the control of the owner. Both controls are only accessible by the owner when the cover is removed. There are six (6) different Xlerator models.  The internals components and performance of all six are identical.  The only difference in the Xlerator models is the material and appearance of the cover.
Specific to the Model XL-C, a zinc alloy is used to form the one-piece, die-cast heavy-duty, vandal-resistant cover. This light weight cover is both rustproof and unbreakable.

Two tamper-resistant, chrome plated bolts secure the cover to the wall plate/motor base.  The Xlerator uses a powerful “series commutated through-flow discharge vacuum motor/blower” design.  At 5/8HP or 20,000 RPM (it's highest speed), this powerful yet extremely efficient motor can produce an air velocity of 19,000 lfm (linear feet per minute) at the nozzle or 16,000 lfm at hand level (approx. 4” below the nozzle).  At the highest speed, sound level of 71 to 72 dB is generated by the deflection of the high-speed air flow off the user’s hands.  Dry time is an amazing 10 to 15 seconds, which is 3 X faster than standard 30-second hand dryers. But the actual length of the run cycle is determined by the user.  The motor and the NiChrome heating element are activated by an infrared optical sensor, and as soon as the user's hands are removed from under the unit, the drying cycle is terminated.  With the heating element set on High, the Xlerator heats the out-flowing air to approx.135°F (from an ambient temperature of 72°F) through a combination of the 970W heating element, friction, and the compression of the air flow.  Mounting instructions and warranty information are included.  Since its introduction, the Xlerator has been often imitated but has yet to be duplicated and remains the standard for high-speed hand dryers.
