As a master distributor for Excel Dryer, we daily ship the Xlerator hand dryer to construction contractors and Division 10 supply companies all over the country. And on occasion, our customers need to exchange the Xlerators originally ordered for a different color or voltage. Because of the long-term relationships we have with these companies, we have at times accepted these units back (even after having been opened and occasionally mishandled on the job site by subcontractors). In such cases, we can no longer sale the units as “new”.
It truly is an "our loss is your gain" situation. This specific XL-BW Xlerator is "new" in performance in every way. This is not a refurbished unit; absolutely no repair was needed.
All internal components (motor, infrared sensor, circuit board, heating element, thermostat, etc.) are brand new (and newest 2016 version) and never used.
It's only the cover that has received scratches & dings.
And with the XL-BW, there is no applied paint or color to be scratched off; it's white BMC through & through

The tiny blemish on this particular unit is so superficial, it is difficult to see on the photos. There is only one area where is looks like a cleaning solution my have made the finish
slightly less
shiny
. The first five pictures are just an overall pictures: front, top, bottom, & sides.
Picture six shows the back plate (with cover removed).  You'll notice that the top of the two electrical knockouts has been removed, but does not affect the dryers looks or performance.

In general, the Xlerator is the world’s first high-speed hand dryer capable of drying the user’s hands in only 10 to 15 seconds. Since 2002, the hand dryer industry has been trying to catch up.  And in early 2016, the Xlerator was internally redesigned & made even better.  The motor is now variable speed motor; meaning it can be set to any speed between fastest to slowest.  Sound decreases as speed is reduced & dry time increased.  The heating element is now adjustable with four settings: high, medium, low & off.
With these two variables, the owner can customize the air flow, dry time, sound volume, and energy consumption to fit any application environment.
Both controls are accessible only when the cover is removed.
In addition, this newest generation of XLerators includes a washable metal mesh filter for more reliable performance.  A smart filter sensor is activated should the filter become clogged & is indicated by a visible red LED light.
There are six (6) different Xlerator models.  The internals components and performance of all six are identical.  The only difference in the Xlerator models is the material and appearance of the cover.
Specific to the Model XL-BW, a flame-retardant, fiberglass-reinforced white thermoset polymer (or Bulk Molded Compound) is used to form the one-piece, highly-durable, vandal-resistant cover.  The white color is through the full thickness of the cover material.  Two tamper-resistant, chrome plated bolts secure the cover to the wall plate/motor base.
The Xlerator uses a powerful “series commutated through-flow discharge vacuum motor/blower” design.
Set to the highest speed (
20,000 RPM), this powerful yet extremely efficient 5/8HP motor can produce an air velocity of 19,000 lfm (linear feet per minute) at the nozzle or 16,000 lfm at hand level (approx. 4” below the nozzle).  At this highest speed, a sound level of
80 to 81 dB
is generated by the deflection of the high-speed air flow off the user’s hands
(but the variable speed motor can be dialed down to the where the sound best suits the owner's preference & installation environment)

Dry time is an amazing 10 to 15 seconds, which is
3 X faster than standard 30-second hand dryers. B
ut the actual length of the run cycle is determined by the user.
The motor and the NiChrome heating element are
activated by an infrared optical sensor
, a
nd as soon as the user's hands are removed from under the unit, the drying cycle is terminated.
The Xlerator heats the out-flowing air to approx.135°F (from an ambient temperature of 72°F) through a combination of the 970W heating element, friction, and the compression of the air flow.  Mounting instructions and warranty information are included.  Since its introduction, the Xlerator has been often imitated but has yet to be duplicated and remains the standard for high-speed hand dryers.
