For those of you who know Native American Jewelry, Darryl needs no introduction: he’s among the very top artists to have created such jewelry, or any kind of jewelry, anywhere. He is a Navajo elder, and his creations have spiritual meaning to him as they do to me. His work has been feautured at the Museum of Natural History in New York, the Heard museum, and at many Indian Markets. featuring fine native and natural turquoise.
The pandemic wiped out my business, and I am forced to sell my collection. These beautiful pieces, all tufa cast, all signed or hallmarked, remain very valuable to me, though they have been little worn. Over the years, Darryl made each piece for me individually. I selected the stones from various sellers and discussed with Darryl some ideas I had in mind. Then Darryl, great artist that he is, came up with his own even better ideas and in every piece, exceeded my expectations.
This is the best and most beautiful bolo I’ve ever seen: elegant and simple and perfectly proportioned. The stone is Morenci.
I never imagined having to sell this jewelry, and I’d hoped to pass on everything to my children. Now I will hope that this small collection finds its way into some loving hands and homes!
