    Description

    A rare Chelsea, Boston Clock Co, 1925 Clock.  Matching case & works S/N 33957.  3 1/2" dial...4 5/8" overall. Faced marked Louis Weule Co. San Francisco.  Runs well, however a bit fast.  Glass lens has chips at about 10 & 1 that do not distract from the overall appearance.  A few marks in the case.  The brass screw cover threads nicely.  A number of nicely etched numbers on the back case near the serial number...28/750...40/168...W/1116...1/2395 or 1/Z395...NW.
    Chelsea Clock Company began operation in 1897 after previously being operated as the Boston Clock Company.  Chelsea reestablished the Boston Clock Company identification about 1907/1908 essentially to separate "a brand of clocks manufactured to meet government standards."
    Louis Weule Co. which dealt in nautical charts, instruments and supplies was founded in 1862 and taken over by Louis Weule in 1892.  After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, the firm was reorganized under the name of Louis Weule Company.
