Antique Birmingham Sterling Silver Nurse's Belt

Description

An attractive Edwardian Sterling Silver Nurse’s Belt dating to 1896-1906. The buckle is adorned with a pretty floral & scroll pattern and is hallmarked on the reverse with the maker’s mark ‘G.E.W’ for G E Walton & Co Ltd (George Edwin Walton), the Lion Passant for silver purity, the Anchor for Birmingham, and the date letter ‘C’ for date. Assay: Birmingham .925 Sterling Silver, Weight: 102 grams.  Condition: In excellent condition with just light superficial marks and wear consistent with its age and usage. Both belt bars are intact on the reverse and the central clip in good working order. Please see photos as these form part of the description and condition of the item.
The belt measures 25.5" (65 cm) end to end.
Of course the belt can be made longer by simply adding links.
The closed buckle is 3.5" (9 cm) wide by 2 1/4" tall (6 cm). Weight: 102 grams.
