    Description

Antique Arts & Crafts Bronze Plated Cast Iron Floor Grate Vent Heat Register VTG.
(Sold individually, 2 available) 30x9.” These grates were salvaged from Hillandale, one of the finest Arts & Crafts mansions of the Gilded Age. Built by Grosvenor Atterbury for shipping magnate George Mosle in Mendham, NJ, the mansion was constructed in 1906 and sold to the Sisters of Saint John the Baptist, a Catholic order of nuns, in the 1920s. These covers were removed from the great main staircase where they covered built-in steam radiators. The surface has some rust, but still also retains a fair amount of the brass/bronze plating. Each measures about 30x9” and is stamped as such on the rear. Heavy grates would be nice pieces for reinstallation for restoration or for a vintage-inspired up-cycled project. Thanks for looking!
