This auction is for one Victorian-era ornamental cast iron white ceiling plate or grate for the Adams round stove pipe register. This new old stock ceiling plate was manufactured by the Adams Co. of Dubuque, Iowa and comes with its original paper wrap and label showing the product. For installation on a ceiling with/without pipe to allow warmth from the room's wood or coal stove into the room above. Removable center section to allow for installation with 7" stove pipe. Designed to fit into a 13 1/2" diameter ceiling hole, the full exposure is 15 1/2" in diameter. Ornate Art Noveau floral-inspired casting is more delicate and graceful than most. Second photo shows ceiling plate from reverse (upper) side.
Ceiling plate was never used and is in very good condition. No cracks or breaks in the casting. There is a some surface rust on the edge in one spot, visible in several photos. Most of the original white paint is still in place, but there is minor loss, less on the front and more on the back side (photo 2). Also some chipping and crackling (see photo 4). Original paper wrap is dirty, dusty, with many tears and holes.
